American Merganser from Maine

This is an early American Merganser from Maine or the north shore of Massachusetts with a traditional inlet head.

The bird appears to be in original paint.  The decoy paint is crazed on the head and body indicating its age. 

The decoy has tack eyes and there is some over paint to the black on the tail.  There is a small area that has some separation on the back.

This is a fine example of an early Maine Decoy.
