Percy Gant was from Osbornville, N. J.  He

died circa 1964.  He was a carpenter by

trade, who worked in his later years for

Charlie Birdsall at Wildfowler Decoys in

Pt. Pleasant, N. J.

He made solid decoys not hollow, and the

wings were carved in the bird.

This bird is original in all aspects.  It

shows some gunning wear.

It is pictured in the new book, “Classic

New Jersey Decoys” by James Doherty.

This is an excellent bird for any true

N. J. collector.  It is original, has

provenance, and it is the exact decoy pictured

in Jim’s book (see page 141, plate 280).
